The Secret Sauce

Unique Human Capital

1) Innovative mindset
I feel that I am very creative. Throughout my time at UF I have learned how to be creative with ideas presented to me. DP taught us how to take an idea and expand on it. It was a six week process and she was strict about not moving to fast. In Ireland I learned the true meaning of a social entrepreneur. Since my study abroad my goal in life has been to become a social entrepreneur.
2) Have studied abroad
Studying Abroad is a experience I would never give up again. When I talk to students interested in studying abroad I tell them to not think about the money. There is no experience like studying abroad. You are forced to become more mature and take care of yourself. You also understand how diverse cultures can be.

3) Openness to ideas and others
I am very open to everyone. That is a huge need when it comes to business because if you do not listen to your customers you will eventually run out of customers and go out of business. Giving people chance to speak for themselves allows them to explain what they did. Sometimes it is just miscommunication which is something I see a lot of people struggle with.
Bravery
4) I would consider myself very brave and outgoing. If I see an idea that has potential I will fully invest in it because I believe in that product. I also am not afraid to stand up. One time in high school there was miscommunication happening and the princinple blamed my leadership class. I stood up for my class and proved that it was miscommunication on their part.

5) Quick learner
Since my internship I have had to sit with my supervisor and discuss how I am growing and what I am learning. My supervisor said how she admired how quick of a learner I am.

Interview 1
My first interviewee saw me a fair person. I will look at both sides before making a judgement on a situation. She also says how I am very level headed.
Interview 2
Ezra said how I am always looking for the fun way to handle things. Life is hard as is and making projects fun is what will keep people engaged and wanting to make a impact on the project. He also said how I get the most out of any experience because you may never get that chance again.
Interview 3
My third interviewee liked how innovated I was. In Ireland he always enjoyed what I brought to class. He could never guess what was going to come out my mouth but that also what made it fun.
Interview 4
Natalie talked about how I am a great leader. In Ireland we were in the group where we had to design an app. Since I came up with the idea it was my teams idea to make me the CEO. I felt very confident in my product and was not afraid to present to other people what we had created.
Interview 5
She enjoyed how I try to make every situation better and more calm. When people get stressed and started messing with the situation that's where communication starts to get lost. She likes how I have good communication skills.

Reflect

I feel as if my interviewee's and me had similar answers to what my human capital represented. I did not write that I am a good Leader but that is something I would put in. I have been thrown so many curveballs in my life that I have learned it is what it is. You pick and chose your battles wisely. I also learned communication is overly important. They also brought up Ireland in multiple of my interviews. Luke stated how I was innovative.
To conclude there I feel that my interview would agree that I have a good understanding of my human capital.

  1. Daryl,

Great post. I agree that your interviewees agreed with your statements for the most part. I feel the same, actually. I saw myself as intellectually curious, passionate, and relationship-oriented. The person who knows me best, my mother, agreed completely. She stated that I seek knowledge, share knowledge unabashedly, and am a trustworthy friend to others.
