What surprised you the most?
I was like most people and thought I knew all about Steve Jobs.
This great guy that started apple. If they thought they really knew him maybe
they knew that he was also fired at one point. The most surprising thing that happened
to me was after reading the book I did lots of research and watching videos to learn
more. Usually when I read I book I will watch the movie and then move on. I saw
my mom used to do research after watching a movie and thought she was weird. After
reading this book I had to do more research and watching videos of him. This book
reminded me of one of my classes in 6th grade when I watched his
2005 commencement at Stanford.
What about the entrepreneur did you most admire?
I admire how Steve Jobs never gave up. He had confidence from
the beginning when he dropped out of college. He knew his worth and was not
selling himself short of anything.
What about the entrepreneur did you least admire
What I did not like about Steve Jobs is that he was not a part
of his daughters life until after he got sued for not paying child support. Ultimately
his daughter wrote a book about how her father was not in her life. Steve Jobs
was found rich overnight and that is when his high school sweetheart sued him
for child support so that his daughter could have a successful life.
Did the entrepreneur encounter adversity and failure? If so,
what did they do about it?
Like everyone says you learn from your failures. Jobs failed at getting
his job taken from him. Although he was fine in the end he was fired from his own
company for a while. Jobs also failed for some time where he would produce
products that would sometimes fail and crash making customers upset.
2) What competencies did you notice that the entrepreneur
exhibited?
Like I said earlier he was very confident and determined. He was
not stopping for anything. If he thought something was successful he would fully
invest in the products’ idea. Jobs was fearless when it came to his products.
He was convinced that his products would never fail.
3) Identify at least one part of the reading that was confusing
to you.
What I did not understand is why the book did not go into more
dept about his daughter how people thought about how he treated her.
4) If you were able to ask two questions to the
entrepreneur, what would ask?
Did you leave your daughter behind because you thought that’s what
it took to be successful?
I would ask this because some people don’t value taking care of
their loved ones over money. And some people do but in the moment do not.
Would you tell students to go college if they did not know what
they wanted to do with their life?
He did not go to college himself so I want to see his arguement
on if people should go to college.
5) For fun: what do you think the entrepreneur's opinion was of
hard work? Do you share that opinion?
I think
his idea of hard work was being slick and different. Jobs thought that being on
top was what it took to be successful but left his family dry. I agree that
being different and thinking smarter not harder is smart but I will always pick
family first.
