You're talking to a student from next semester's course. What
would you tell them?
Do not stop no matter the obstacles you face. Sometimes life can
get worse and worse but you have to find your purpose. There is never a reason
to stop in what you believe in. Being persistent is what it takes. If you just
take what is told to and back down then your being submissive. There is a fine
line between being persistent and being cocky.
1) Tenaciousness is a competency. What are the
behaviors that you have used (or developed) to keep up with the requirements of
this course?
I made a routine for my
work. I look two weeks in advance to see how much time the assignment will
take. I have a very busy schedule with how busy I am. I have an internship, job
at the Florida pool, work at Volcano Bay and also taking a full schedule. I don’t
sell myself short and that’s why with my assignments someone thing my idea is
not possible but I have passion in a self-driving car.
2) Tenaciousness is also about attitude. Talk
about a moment or two when you felt like "giving up." What pulled you
through? Do you feel like you've developed a tenacious attitude during the past
two months? What experience or experiences most contributed to this?
I felt like giving up when I missed an assignment. It was after
the hurricane and I had gone home to help my parents prepare. When I came back
I had my time messed up and ended up not being able to submit on time. Another
time is when I ran into an incident that I am not sharing.
3) Three tips. What are three tips you would
offer next semester's student about (1) fostering the skills that support
tenacity and (2) developing the 'tenacious mindset' ?
Make a schedule for this class. The assignments are due on the
same days every week. Have your time set aside so you can focus and knock out
the assignment. It is not a hard class and learning the mindset will help make
the class even easier.
Daryl,
ReplyDeleteI also mentioned making a routine as well! I think it’s essential in order to be successful in this course. I agree that making a schedule is important in order to do well. We all run into obstacles that may hinder us from completing our work, the important thing is that we can all overcome them.
